Who we are

The Minnesota Minority Education Partnership, Inc. (MMEP) is a nonprofit collaborative, founded in 1987, that seeks to increase the success of students of color in Minnesota schools, colleges, and universities.

 

MMEP achieves its mission by working closely with: students, communities of color, educational institutions, business, government, and nonprofits to develop programs that enable students of color to succeed academically.

 

Unique characteristics of MMEP design:

  • Multi-sector collaborative consisting of: educators, public officials, philanthropists, business, nonprofits, students, and parents.
  • Work focused on kindergarten through post-secondary education promoting a continuum of support along entire educational pipeline.
  • A multicultural ensemble representative of Minnesota’s diversity involved in all aspects of the organization’s programs.
  • A financial structure requiring a core operating budget of: one-third membership fees, one-third from state appropriations, and one-third from foundations and corporate grants.
  • A dedication to the process and spirit of collaboration.

The staff of MMEP is a group of dedicated and passionate individuals who tirelessly pursue the organization’s mission. Each individual comes with his or her own unique style, expertise, and character, enriching the flavor of our work and the staff itself.
